SPOTLIGHT Daria Kalinina

Daria Kalinina and I struck up our friendship after many years of her styling my hair.  I always look forward to her medicine given the clarity of her sight — she tells it like it is!  She would travel on these wild pilgrimages and share her findings. I always learned a practical tip from her.

When she encouraged me to obtain my holistic healing certification, she saw my heart and my desire to share my gifts. She told me about the 9-month program she completed led by the wise guru Dr. Naina Marbelli and I decided to make the commitment.

Born in Kiev Ukraine, Daria was exposed to traditional medicine from an early age. Her grandmother, Zina, would use herbs from the family garden along with pantry staples like honey and ginger to cure just about any ailment plaguing the household. Daria eventually moved to the US and when her health became an issue and Western medicine was not working, she went back to her roots and reclaimed her health as a student of holistic healing.

Daria Kalinina has since traveled the world through passing on her knowledge of Ayurveda, Iridology, Herbology, and yoga. Helping others discover love and light within. She believes that our healthiest life is our best life. Her love of food and community inspired her to host monthly free community dinners, where attendees are able to sample delicious ayurvedic food cooked using the knowledge she gained during her month-long stay in India studying ayurvedic cooking. She has also shared with me amazing vegan cuisine based on her latest adventure in Russia where they are ahead of the curve in vegan cuisine.

Recently Daria has partnered up with another fellow yoga teacher Stephanie Teator to launch Roots Holistic Wellness offering online seminars with topics such as Dinacharya, medicine cabinet remedies, and healing with herbs.

LIVING FULL CIRCLE EXCERPT By Daria Kalinina

It is challenging to stay up late when your everyday routine requires waking up early. Establishing structure, such as targeting a specific time to wake up and go to sleep, enables your natural body clock to sync up with its natural circadian rhythm. I am very aware of the rising and setting of the sun to nudge me to wake up or slow down. My daily work schedule changes, so I am intentional about maintaining a consistent evening routine. It requires discipline, given the opportunities to go out to join friends and family for occasional fun and celebration, but overall maintaining that consistency is key for enabling me to stay balanced since I have less flexibility at the start of my day. Whether it’s a quick rinse in the shower to get the dust and dirt off or a thirty-minute bath, I am grateful for fresh, clean water to remove any stagnant or negative energy.

If I have time to soak, adding calming ingredients, such as a lavender essential oil, Epsom salts, baking soda, bentonite clay, apple cider vinegar, ginger, hydrogen peroxide, or even sea salt can enhance my experience. I highly recommend you build your own pantry of go-to calming elixirs to enhance your routine. After a hot soak or a shower, my typical evening includes gentle stretching, sipping on golden milk, and adding an item to my gratitude list, as well as sending good thoughts and prayers to my family and friends. On a day when I cannot wind down, I may crank up the music and have a private dance party.

Ancient Ritual: Gratitude Journal

  • Keep a journal or a sheet of paper and pen handy (or use the journal pages in the back of this book) before you go to sleep.
  • Write down one thing you are grateful for.
  • Continue for ten nights, adding one item to the list every night.
  • Once the list includes ten items, reread the list every day for another ten days.
  • Observe and reflect on your daily interactions with life, noticing how you begin to see situations differently
