Buy Online And Still Boost Local Bookstores

Right before the world shut down, I had the wonderful experience of seeing my book on the shelves of a local bookstore. For any author, this experience is a bit of a dream come true.

I know how fortunate I was. So many authors have had their books launched during this time of quarantine, where books can only be purchases online.

But thankfully, my publisher is helping to support local bookstores so one day soon we can all meet there, browse, read and buy the books we love.

Buy online to support local bookstores

Simon & Shuster and a new organization called Bookshop.org, have joined forces to support indie local bookstores, even as much of the country still struggles to re-open from the global pandemic.

Bookshop.org is helping tie e-commerce sales to supporting indie bookstores. For any sale made on the site, 10% of the proceeds go into a pool that is evenly distributed across participating indie bookstores. In addition, indie bookstores are curating and promoting recommendation lists. Any sale generated from their curated lists generates a 25% portion of the proceeds direct to that store.

Simon & Shuster was the first major publisher to partner with this innovative effort to help local bookstores remain open, which you can read about here.

Perhaps you still can’t visit your local bookstore to browse the shelves for a great new read, you can still #SupportIndies in this way. You can buy Living Full Circle from Bookshop_Org here.
